The Sound if Islay ceilidh band

The Edinburgh violinist has been part of the 'Sound of Islay ceilidh band' for over ten years. Have a look at the band website. You can listen to the band on the Edinburgh violinist's 'Ceilidh mp3s' page.

The band usually perform as a four-piece: 2 violins, accordion and drums (full kit).

They have all of their own equipment (PA included) and transport. Two 'callers' guide dancers through the steps and encourage people to the dance floor.  They are happy to perform any dances that you might have in mind. Not only friendly and polite, these talented musicians are versatile and flexible, too. They are just as happy to 'play it by ear' with what you'd like on the night or you can leave it to them while they leave you to dance the night away. If there is anything that you might require, don't hesitate to ask them as they are sure to get back to you and maintain cerrespondence up to the event. The Edinburgh violinist has a few dances you might not know that he likes to teach, too. Having the right band can really make all the difference on the night. The Sound of Islay ceilidh band thrives on providing a professional musical service and ensuring that everyone has a great time.

A modern and interactive ceilidh band, The Sound of Islay ceilidh band encourages as many people to involved and have a good time as possible. In addition to the ceilidh side of things they provide an excellent disco service. They have a huge amount of 'popular' music - generally, 60s to modern with recent chart hits, classics and 'cheese', too. If you would require specific tracks, the band can provide those, too. Some couples like to put some of their favorite tracks onto a cd. The band are happy to play music of your choice at any stage of the evening.
