Strings
A passion
"I have always loved the sound that strings make. Imagine a huge orchestra, playing a Sibelius symphony and bringing the house down. Such great affect can come from the combination of four important cousins within the orchestra; the violin, viola, cello and double bass. Often, composers will have at least one instrument that they are especially fond of, whether they learned to become a musician on that instrument or whether they just adore the sound may remain a mystery but for me it is the strings of the orchestra that add something that no other section of the orchestra can. That is why I love writing for strings so much." - Adam Nash
